UNDERSTANDING THE BOOK OF REVELATION
The best way to understand such a difficult book is to let it explain itself.
- It is written in symbols (1:1)
- It discusses events which were to take place shortly after it was written (1:1,3; 22:
6-10)
- It was written to the people of John’s day (1:4; cf. 2:7,11,17,26-28; 3:5,12,21)
- It teaches that Jesus is reigning now (1:5,9; 17:14; 19:11-16)
- It depicts the avenging of the saints (6:9-11; 7:13-14; 16:5-7; 17:6; 18:20,24; 19:
2; 20:4)
- It depicts the spiritual realm (21:5)
- It does not conflict with any other Bible teaching (22:18-19)
WHY I BELIEVE JESUS WAS THE SON OF GOD
- He was in a category by Himself (Jn. 7:31-47; Matt. 7:28-29; 28:18)
- He made some unique claims
- Claimed to be the Messiah (Jn. 4:24-26; Mk. 14:61-62)
- Claimed to be the Son of God (Jn. 10:30-38; Matt. 16:13-18)
- Claimed personal equality with God (Jn. 5:17-18)
- Claimed to be sinless—and proved it (Jn. 8:46; 1 Pet. 2:21-24)
- What others said about Him
- His brothers (Jn. 7:3-5; Matt. 13:54-58; Acts 1:14; cf. Jas. 1:1; Jude 1:1)
- His mother (Jn. 2:1-11; Acts 1:14)

JESUS CHRIST AND HIS CHURCH
